Nach Broadcom-Übernahme von VMware arbeitet Veeam an Support von Proxmox VE

Good news for Proxmox users: Veeam is working on a Proxmox integration.

Since the Broadcom acquisition of VMware, Veeam has been working on support for Proxmox VE (Virtual Environment). Oracle KVM is already supported by Veeam.

What is Proxmox?

Proxmox VE (Virtual Environment) is a open source virtualisation platform. It can be used to set up and manage VMs, containers, HA clusters (high availability) and software-defined storage (SDN).

Administration can be managed entirely via the web-based interface, where new VMs can be set up or migrated between hosts. Since all this is directly integrated, there is no need for an appliance such as vCenter, which saves a massive amount of storage space, memory etc.

The system is based on Debian and is therefore very lean, which is also noticeable when it comes to patching: a host can be patched and restarted in just a few minutes.

Proxmox is not a "newcomer": It was founded in 2005 in Austria as Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH. From our point of view, it is also positive that Proxmox is a software from Europe or the DACH region which is a signal in light of the predominance of well-known products from companies in the USA & Co.
