Who is the course for

You are an administrator and new to IBM Spectrum Protect data management. You want to acquire basic skills to install, configure and administer the IBM Spectrum Protect server.

What you will learn in this course

This 5-day course focuses on the implementation and basic administration of an IBM Spectrum Protect environment. You will learn how to build a complete data protection infrastructure. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to implement complex backup concepts using new technologies such as Data Deduplication and Node Replication across multiple IBM Spectrum Protect servers and sites.
You will learn how to use Storage Pools and Device Classes, as well as how to configure Management Classes to manage your backed up data. You will also become familiar with the IBM Spectrum Protect Backup Archive Client and be able to back up systems running all major and supported operating systems. You will also learn how to automate and monitor backups and server processes in IBM Spectrum Protect.
Hands-on lab exercises are conducted in a Windows 2016 environment. Course materials include examples of AIX and Linux commands where they differ from Windows.
