Predatar
Cyber Resilience & Recovery Orchestration with Cleanroom Technology
Predatar, the pioneer of cleanroom technology — today's leading approach to backup systems — defines itself as Recovery Assurance Platform
Predatar provides businesses with the assurance that they can actually restore their data and systems in the event of an emergency—quickly and completely. With Predatar, IT teams know whether their recovery process truly works, whether it is free of malware, and whether business operations can be consistently resumed in the event of an incident.
Long-standing best-practice partnership
Empalis accompanied Predatar from the early development phases as an implementation and operations partner. Many of the features were tested in our lab, validated in customer projects, and continuously optimized based on customer feedback and the insights of our experts.
Thanks to this practical approach, Predatar—which was launched as a startup a good ten years ago with a monitoring and reporting solution—has evolved into a field-tested orchestration and resilience platform that is now available for the leading backup solutions in the Gartner Quadrant. In particular, Predatar has proven itself in complex enterprise infrastructures such as IBM Storage Protect.
Comparing Predatar to Traditional Backup Strategies
Predatar is audit-ready and offers robust recovery processes. Compared to traditional backup strategies, Predatar combines these features into a single platform.
Cleanroom Technology
Predatar Cleanroom 3.0 enables isolated recovery environments where systems can be tested and validated before going live. This is particularly relevant in ransomware scenarios.
Recovery-Orchestration
Dependencies between systems are automatically taken into account. Restarting is carried out in a structured manner rather than on an ad hoc basis.
Simulation and Testability
Recovery processes can be tested on a regular basis—without disrupting production.
Single point of control and transparency
Dashboards and reporting deliver decision-making insights for management and audit.
Predatar's unique selling point remains unchanged: proactively validating backups from the outset—not only after an incident has occurred.

Regular release roadmap
Predatar regularly provides updates to ensure continuous improvement in performance, usability, and compatibility. With its latest releases, Predatar has introduced a new generation of cleanroom technology, a complete UI refresh for users, and enhanced performance and scalability.
Features
Predatar highlights the platform’s flexible integration capabilities as a core feature, enabling it to connect with solutions customers already have in place and improve their performance and security levels. Predatar accomplishes this in particular through automated recovery tests and intelligent threat detection in the Cleanroom.
Multi-Vendor-Integration
Independent validation of recovery.
Supported by top enterprise infrastructure solutions, Predatar provides a centralized platform that allows you to verify whether your storage and backup providers are meeting their service level agreements (SLAs) and recovery guarantees.
Automated Recovery Testing
Keep testing your disaster recovery capabilities to ensure that your data can be restored. Predatar's automated recovery testing enables continuous validation of your data across your entire organization.
Intelligent Threat Detection
Detect Hidden Threats in Your Storage
Using cutting-edge methods such as top-tier machine learning and pro-active data validation, Predatar uncovers malware that other tools miss.
Predatar has detected malware using this approach for more than 90% of its customers.
Predatar supports
not only Zerto, Novastore and PureStorage, but also
Cyber Recovery Orchestration with Predatar
Predatar stands for Cyber Recovery Orchestration (CRO): it automates and structures the entire recovery process across all systems.
Predatar technology is based on open source
Predatar manages recovery workflows while taking system dependencies into account, integrating automated runbooks and allowing these to be executed on a time-based or event-based schedule—or even just manually.
Open Source: VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, Windows, Linux, and AIX
While Predatar’s previous CleanRoom ran exclusively on VMware, the new CleanRoom 3.0 is based entirely on open-source technologies.
The significant uncertainty regarding costs and transparency at VMware following its acquisition by Broadcom was one of the drivers behind this shift toward Hyper-V.
The setup wizard enables quick and easy installation within a few hours—fully automated.
CleanRoom 3.0: Easy Management
CleanRoom 3.0 isn’t just easier to set up—it’s also easier to manage. Updates, feature enhancements, and patches are automatically synchronized with CleanRoom. Manual intervention isn’t necessary, as the latest—and therefore most secure—version of Predatar runs automatically.
Another advantage: In version 3.0, CleanRoom can be operated as a VM, as an isolated physical server, or by reusing existing infrastructure.
CleanRoom 3.0 Equipped with Aurora AI
Predatar’s Aurora AI is integrated into CleanRoom 3.0, thereby enhancing recovery orchestration. Its power lies in reporting, where Aurora continuously aggregates comprehensive information in real time. You can also select a client, and Aurora will generate a report on it.
In addition, CleanRoom 3.0 features a chatbot that has already been trained for this implementation and is available to assist with any questions.
Predatar Cyber Recovery Orchestration for IBM Storage Snapshots
Predatar allows you to analyze and test not only VMs and backup data from the data protection solution, but also safeguarded copies from IBM storage systems.
“Safeguarded Copies” refer to regularly generated snapshots at the block storage level that are stored in an immutable state for a predefined period and are independent of the primary system. These offer rapidly available cyber resilience, provided that the primary system was only attacked at the operating system level and the storage system remains unaffected. In this case, a Safeguarded Copy is simply used to restore data and applications within seconds.
To detect dormant malware in these copies, Predatar now also offers the ability to scan file shares or VMware datastores in safeguarded copies within the Cleanroom. Update 13.1 also includes, among other features, integration with Microsoft 365 for Teams.

Predatar: High Flexibility in an “All-in-One” Package
With support for all major hypervisors, Predatar is one of the most flexible solutions on the market. The upheavals in the hypervisor market—particularly regarding VMware—have left many companies feeling uncertain, especially when it comes to costs. Predatar has since addressed these customer concerns and introduced support for all major hypervisors. This also makes switching vendors easier.
Predatar has thus established a high degree of flexibility as an “all-in-one” package based on KVM, eliminating the need for many additional licenses that were previously required to install Predatar. This can result in savings of up to 25 percent. These features make it easier for us to advise customers dealing with virtual machines (VMs) in a vendor-neutral manner.
