RTO (Recovery Time Objective)

RTO (Recovery Time Objective)

RTO stands for "Recovery Time Objective" and refers to the amount of time an application, system or process is allowed to be down - without causing significant damage to the business. This includes recovery time.

Example: If an RTO is three hours, a lot of money has to be paid: for failure data centers, automation, telecommunication, etc. since a complete recovery is to be achieved in three hours. If the RTO is specified as three weeks, there is significantly more time to acquire new resources and perform recovery.
