Usually, the check for malware takes place before the backup. However, it is still possible for malware to get into the backup, make recovery difficult or even prevent it.
Backups today need to be more than reliable, performant and securely stored.
In the 11:30 a.m. presentation slot, Markus Stumpf will show how Empalis' Viking Backup Guardian service combines an additional secure data copy in the Empalis Cloud with regular restore tests. He will also discuss the ability to scan VMs for malware and even clean them up.

The presented service enables fast and reliable detection of anomalies in the backup. Threats are detected by AI-based algorithms, restored in an isolated environment and cleaned up with a malware scanner. In addition, the entire backup inventory is checked for the detected threat and the last clean backup is determined.
