Reconcile Volumes Fix for IBM Storage Protect
The investigation was triggered when it was discovered that a hard drive for DB backups was full. It was discovered that some volumes on this drive were very old and no longer appeared in the volume history.
How to proceed
Using the command
"Q Vol stgp=dbbackup devc=dbs"
these were still visible. However, the old volumes in the file system were deleted beforehand because, as already mentioned, the hard drive for the DB backups was full.
During the current reclaim, these volumes were set to unavailable status.
These volumes could then be deleted by the command
"del vol --- discarddata=yes"
After all old volumes were deleted from the ISP server, both servers of the virtual volumes had to be cleaned up with the command:
"REConcile Volumes <devclass> fix=yes"
Both servers were then in a consistent state again.
